Alice by William Merritt done for a monthly challenge and to practice a looser style.

Done in Painter 11 (with the fix!) and wacom Intuos 4
approx 1600 x 1300

About 8 hours.

Don't underestimate the value of keeping things loose. Some of the best portraits are very loose in the background but get tighter when the artist nears the face.

I'm working on it, and I must tell you this was a lot of work to get it to look right and loose at the same time. :)

Well, not so good after a few weeks of pretty intense practice my muse drug me back to art. :) Will return sometime I'm sure and the whim of the winds. :)

For now I will focus on learning more art/painting. It come much more natural (I think) to me than piano of music. For now I'll let the music inspire me and do my art.

I think you're on a right course.
Going back and forth between the piano and the art/painting works wonder in appreciating both elements:)
If I'm not mistaken, an American painter J. S.Sargent did the same thing and even had a piano in his studio:)

Interesting. I know Joni Mitchell does painting and songwriting usually sequentially...
